The Denver Broncos own the Mile High City. They’re almost always the best and most consistent sports team in the state of Colorado, and with that comes the demand for success — year-in and year-out — from the fan base.
Peyton Manning led the Broncos to four action-packed seasons while playing in Denver, leaving a massive void for young quarterback Trevor Siemian to fill.
Siemian has been heavily scrutinized throughout his tenure as the Broncos’ starter, with many questioning the team’s ability to win a Super Bowl with the Northwestern product at the helm.
Despite the criticism, Siemian once again won the job in training camp, and he looked at least marginally improved in the Broncos’ season-opening victory over the Los Angeles Chargers.
While many still doubt that Siemian can lead the Broncos back to the promised land, a two-time Super Bowl champion and Bronco icon begs to differ.
“I think so,” former Broncos’ tight end Byron Chamberlain told Ronnie Kohrt and Aniello Piro on Sunday’s installment of ‘The Morning Blitz’ on Mile High Sports Radio. “I think we really can. Trevor is a very cerebral quarterback. He’s a guy who knows where the ball is supposed to go and can get it out on time. It’s a combination; when you win a Super Bowl, it’s a team thing, and that includes that defense. As long we have one of the top defenses in the league, we’ll always be in games; we’ll always have chances to win. We have playmakers on offense with [Emmanuel] Sanders and [Demaryius] Thomas. I really believe he can.”
