Henry Kreiger-Coble looks to restart the Broncos’ streak of UDFA on the final roster

Henry Kreiger-Coble, Denver Broncos undrafted rookie.

When you come to the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent, there’s one thing you know: You’ll be given every opportunity to compete for a job. While no undrafted free agent made the Broncos’ final roster last year, that was not the case for the previous 11, and tight end Henry Kreiger-Coble is looking to restart that streak this offseason.

Kreiger-Coble is an undrafted tight end out of Iowa who has put forth a positive outlook on training camp in hopes of landing a roster spot with the defending Super Bowl champions

“I just wanted to come in with a good attitude and try to work my hardest,” Kreiger-Coble said at OTAs, via DenverBroncos.com, “and pick up things as quickly as possible.”

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end ran a 4.8 second 40-yard dash at the combine, along with a verticle of 33.5 inches.

“The system here in Denver is unbelievable,” he added. “They have some of the best coaches in the NFL and just being around guys that know the game so well has been really awesome; it’s been a great opportunity.”

His size may be a barrier between him and a roster spot, but nonetheless, his hard work is paying off.

“I think you see him stepping out and doing some good things,” head coach Gary Kubiak said. “The big thing for him is to get bigger, stronger. That’s going to be the key for him in his career.”

After going seven rounds without hearing his name, however, Kreiger-Coble turned to the Broncos as a possible jumping off point for his professional football career.

“I came out here and talked to the coaches, and then I could see that this was the pro style, Iowa style that I kind of ran,” he said. “It was a little more comfortable than, say, read-option type stuff.”

The Broncos have a few short months to go before their September 8 regular season opener against Carolina, but as far as Kreiger-Coble should be concerned, he’s already off to a great start with his new team.
