Heuerman signs rookie contract for reported $3M

Tight end Jeff Heuerman signed his rookie contract Thursday, making him the last Bronco to be signed from this year’s draft class.

The former Ohio State Buckeye and third-round pick agreed to a four-year, $3 million contract with a projected $600,000 signing bonus.

Last month during the Broncos rookie minicamp, Heuerman tore his ACL after making a cut running full speed when his knee gave way during the special teams portion of practice. The rookie tight end will likely miss the remainder of the season but is expected to make a full recovery.

According to a Denver Post report, Heuerman underwent ACL surgery on his left knee moving him forward in his recovery.
Tight ends Vergil Green and Owen Daniels will start at the position come September.

For now, Heuerman will support his teammates from the sideline while he learns the mental part of the game until he’s ready to take the field as a Bronco next season.
