With high school district baseball tournaments in full swing since May 9th, the biggest detractor at the moment is mother nature. Rainfall has been a continuous story throughout the month of May here in Colorado affecting the Colorado Rockies as well as high school baseball tournaments.
As of early Tuesday morning, the 3A tournament remains on schedule with games being played at Butch Butler Field in Greely.
CHSAA assistant commissioner Bert Borgmann announced that the 4A tournament move locations to Metropolitan State University of Denver, and play on the new baseball fields at The Regency Athletic Complex for games Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition, all games times will be pushed back an hour, beginning at 1:00pm, and the second game following immediately.
In the 5A tournament, All-City Field in Denver has received a lot of moisture over the past few weeks and the grounds crew deserves a lot of credit keeping the field playable. Like the 4A tournament, games have been pushed back an hour for Tuesday starting at 1:00pm, with the second game following. Wednesday’s games as of now are still scheduled for a 12:00pm and 2:30pm start weather permitting.
The extremely rainy month in Colorado has made playing baseball consistently very difficult. Hopefully the weather permits and class 3A-5A can finish up their semifinal bouts Tuesday with the finals coming without any further delays.
