Nikola Jokic continued his dominant play and the Denver Nuggets have their second three-game win streak of the season and their second since Dec. 15 after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers 127-121 on Tuesday night. It was also only Denver’s second win on the second night of a back-to-back.
After scoring a career-high 30 points in a home win on Monday, Jokic was one point shy of tying that mark in Los Angeles as the Denver Nuggets picked up a crucial road win over the Lakers. Jokic added 15 rebounds to record his 14th double-double of the season and fourth in as many games (although he missed one game over that span with illness). All five Nuggets starters scored in double digits and Will Barton scored a season-high 26 points starting in place of the injured Gary Harris.
Lou Williams scored 24 points off the bench for Los Angeles to lead the Lakers in scoring, but only two L.A. starters managed to reach double figures in scoring as the Nuggets’ first unit dominated on both sides of the floor. Julius Randle had five turnovers in the loss.
The Nuggets next travel to San Antonio on Thursday night to face the Spurs, who defeated the Timberwolves at home on Tuesday night. Denver will then face those same T-Wolves on Sunday in Minnesota after hosting the Clippers on Saturday.
