The final score showed a five-point difference for the Denver Nuggets and the Brooklyn Nets, 116-111, but the outcome seemed far more lopsided. Brooklyn jumped out to an 11-0 lead to open the game and never trailed. Denver pulled to within two points in the game’s final 16 seconds, but it was too little too late.
Denver’s starting unit was the man culprit in the loss, as all five starters ended with negative plus/minus lines. Danilo Gallinari, Jusuf Nurkic and Emmanuel Mudiay were all -22 or worse on the night. Denver’s second unit, led by Wilson Chandler’s game-high 27 points staged a furious comeback and have four of five players in double-figures.
Brook Lopez led the scoring for Brooklyn with 24 and Trevor Booker had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Nets limited Denver to 40 percent shooting on 105 attempts and forced 17 turnovers.
Denver moves to 1-2 on their five-game road trip and must turn around immediately and travel to Washington D.C. where they will face John Wall and the Wizards.
