Hoffman continues to perform well in New Britain

Jeff Hoffman, one of the pitchers acquired from Toronto in the Troy Tulowitzki trade, continues to put up great numbers in Double-A. Currently rated as the fourth best prospect in the Rockies farm system according to MLB.com, Hoffman is rolling since joining the Rockies organization.

On Thursday night, Hoffman went five innings for the New Britain Rock Cats against the Trenton Thunder, giving up just one run on three hits. Hoffman struck out two and walked none. The East Carolina graduate has shown great control of his pitches and continues to provide hope that the Rockies got a potential ace in the Tulowitzki trade.

Pitching in first Adanved-A and now at Double-A, Hoffman has a cumulative ERA of 2.84 and a record of 3-3 in 2015. Another positive note for Hoffman is that in his 82.1 innings pitched, he has surrendered only 20 walks.

If Hoffman continues with these types of performances, it would not be all that surprising if the Rockies call up Hoffman to the majors sometime next season.

Chris Onorato of WNYT talked with 104.5 The Team about Jeff Hoffman’s recent pitching performance.
