Jermaine Jones is helping to turn around the Colorado Rapids

After a 3-1 victory Saturday night against the Seattle Sounders FC, Colorado Rapids fans could not be happier. The Rapids are undefeated at home this season, and they’re currently on pace to blow away their last-place record from last season.

A major key to the team’s turnaround has been midfielder Jermaine Jones. Against the Sounders FC, Jones scored the first goal of the game with an amazing header. He started his first game with the Rapid’s last week and scored then, too.

In the past, Jones has played with the US National team, and last season, he played for the New England Revolution, starting 17 games.

On Sunday, Marcelo Balboa of From The Pitch on Mile High Sports Radio said that Jones deserves the credit for the Rapids’ recent success.

“The one that’s turned this team around, which you can see the last two games, is Jermaine Jones,” Balboa said. “They didn’t win the way they have been winning the last two games. With the fire in their belly, and the way they’ve been chasing, it’s completely different than when they have won before. And without Jermaine Jones, I am not sure if these games would have been won.”

It may be just two games, but Jones has proven himself before, and will undoubtedly be a big part of the Colorado Rapids going forward.
