The Denver Broncos will have a new public address announcer when they open their 2016 season. Alan Roach, the team’s PA announcer for the past 16 years, has accepted a new job on Sundays, announcing Minnesota Vikings games.
It’s the “opportunity of a lifetime,” Roach, a Minnesota native, told Fox 31 Denver.

Roach is also the voice of the Colorado Avalanche and Colorado Rapids, and will remain in those positions while flying to Minnesota to announce games at the Vikings’ new home, U.S. Bank Stadium. He was the Rockies’ first stadium announcer from their inception in 1993 until 2006.
He’s worked nine Super Bowls, has announced hockey at the Winter Olympics since 2002, announced the 2015 MLS All-Star Game against Tottenham Hotspur, and provides airport information on the train system at Denver International Airport.
He’ll announce boxing at the Rio games in August before starting his new job in Minnesota.
Roach posted a farewell letter to fans on his personal website, which included the following kind words to Broncos fans:
…It’s not announcing the names that makes my job the best in the world, it’s the fans’ reactions that make all the difference! And when it comes to fans, I’ve never experienced anywhere else in the world, a group of fans as passionate as those who follow the Denver Broncos!
Ever since being bestowed with the honor of picking up where the great Alan Cass left off, I’ve looked forward to every football Sunday in Denver. Win or lose, the thrill of announcing a game at Mile High has always been special. The unequalled exuberance of Bronco’s Nation has made my job intoxicating. The energy that exudes from the sea of orange is radiant. I wish each of you could experience the thrill as 77,000 passion-filled fans react uproariously to something you say, or don’t say in the case of IN-COM-PLETE. Once you do, you’ll know why I am the luckiest PA announcer in all of football. Thank you, Broncos Country, for an incredible ride!
The Broncos have not announced how Roach’s successor will be selected.
