Undefeated Colorado and No. 4-ranked Michigan are set to face off against each other this Saturday in a game that means an awful lot in Boulder. Not only has it been a long time since the Buffs were 2-0 and outscoring opponents by 86 points through two weeks, but it’s been a long time since they’ve faced off against a team like the Michigan Wolverines in a game that actually matters.
And you know what? They’re enjoying themselves.
The pressure’s off CU. They’re 19-point underdogs to the Wolverines, and if they so much as cover the spread, it’ll be seen as a step in the right direction. If they get blown out, well, they certainly wouldn’t be the first to fall in the Big House.
So, with one of the nation’s most successful programs on the horizon, Colorado traded a few friendly barbs with the maize and blue, starting with the depth chart that garnered national attention.
In case you haven't seen this week's depth chart. What and who is in your favorite position? #GoBuffs pic.twitter.com/19qUmVyO6P

After noticing the Buffs were planning on using a, uh, let’s say unintelligent option at punt returner, the Wolverines were quick to fire back.
@RunRalphieRun Look forward to seeing your punt returners this weekend! #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/28Y0BU73Qq

The Buffs, though, remained confident in their decision to start Lloyd Christmas at punt returner, as long as he could a pair of Harbarugh’s Khakis for good luck.
.@UMichFootball Lloyd Christmas really wants a pair of Harbaugh khakis. Can you hook him up? pic.twitter.com/w2btMKQvN8

The Wolverines weren’t having it.

Realizing Michigan wasn’t likely to give in, Colorado called in some backup.

The Wolverines returned serve, calling out the Buffaloes’ checkered injury history.
.@RunRalphieRun Better make sure your safety is good to go. Seems a bit fragile. #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/szOZXQj4DH

The Buffs weren’t worried, though, knowing the only way anybody was getting to Peter Griffin was if they wen’t through Vito Corleone first.

Out of insults, Michigan formerly invited Colorado to the Big House on Saturday.

And that’s where we’ve left off. The conversation will begin again at 1:30 p.m. MST on Saturday, when the Buffs look to replicate the magic that led to the “Miracle at Michigan” over two decades ago.
