The King has been overthrown. According to Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have placed punter Marquette King on injured reserve and plan to release him when he is healthy. With King on IR, former pizza delivery driver, Colby Wadman will be punting for the Broncos against the Jets on Sunday.

King currently has a $2 million contract, so the Broncos would have to eat $1.5 million of his deal. The eccentric punter has struggled mightily in the first quarter of the season though, so the organization may feel it is time to move on.

In four games, King has punted 20 times for a career-low average of 44.1 yards per punt. With the Raiders last season, King had an average of 47.1 yards yards per punt, and his 2016 average of 48.1 yards per punt was the second highest of his career.
