Congratulations to Sydney Prey, a junior basketball player at Golden High School, for receiving 1,457 votes out of a total 3,515 and being named the ASPIRE Athlete of the Week for Week 19!
Sydney is a guard for the Golden Demons and has established herself as a leader on the basketball court this season, currently averaging 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Her athletic achievements in 2015 include being selected to the Littleton Tournament All-Tournament Team and getting an Honorable Mention All-Conference for basketball. In addition, Sydney was named All-Conference in golf.
“Sydney Prey is a great leader on and off the basketball court,” stated Golden High School basketball coach Shea Scarlett. “Her attitude, effort and enthusiasm in all she does helps her achieve her goals as well as uplift those around her.”
Academically, Sydney is a model student, currently carrying a 4.58 GPA at Golden High School while taking numerous honors and AP courses; she also plays an active role with the National Honor Society. Sydney contributes greatly to her community through volunteer work with the Arvada food bank, the local elementary school and the YMCA.
“Sydney makes a positive impact in all that she does,” continued Coach Scarlett. “She is a great teammate because she is unselfish and strives to make her teammates and team as successful as they can be.”
