Mile High Sports, publishers of Mile High Sports Magazine and operators of AM 1340 | FM 104.7 and milehighsports.com, has entered into a strategic content partnership with new Denver-based media property 5280 Sports Network.
Founded by sports media veterans Nate Lundy and Shawn Drotar, 5280 Sports Network will provide unique video and on-demand audio content covering Denver sports and will be available at milehighsports.com.
“When we created 5280 Sports Network, we wanted to bring together some of the biggest local personalities to talk about our local teams,” Lundy said. “So when the opportunity to partner with Mile High Sports happened, it made perfect sense to add their local reach and platforms to our plans. I’m also thrilled to be back on the air in Denver with Shawn and look forward to bringing our unique style to Mile High Sports Radio.”
Effective Aug. 1, Lundy and Drotar will join the Mile High Sports Radio lineup from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The first hour of the program will be a dedicated locally to all things Colorado sports, while the second hour will be Lundy’s nationally syndicated program with SB Nation Radio and cover the top sports stories of the day from across the country.
“We’re very excited to launch the partnership between Mile High Sports and 5280 Sports Network on the same day that our longtime national network begins its new partnership with SB Nation,” Mile High Sports general manager Casey Light said. “Nate and Shawn are two well-known and respected voices in Denver sports and we know our listeners will be excited to hear them on the airwaves again.
“Additionally, the expansion of our video and on-demand audio content in collaboration with 5280 Sports Network will help continue the exponential growth we’ve experienced over the past year.”
Since re-launching its digital arm in September 2015, Mile High Sports has seen growth of more than 600 percent over the same period of time the year prior on that platform.
Mile High Sports Radio listeners can still hear Danny Williams afternoons from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., while The Big Show with Irv and Joe will now air from noon – 2 p.m. The king of anecdotes, Gil Whiteley, will air from 11 a.m. to noon.
