The Denver Broncos’ playoff chances in 2018 will hinge on what the Broncos do at the quarterback position, whether they add a veteran free agent, or take their chances with another young rookie in the NFL draft.

One arm can alter the direction of a franchise, and in an interview with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Ross Tucker of NBCSN says that John Elway’s strategy may lean towards the known commodities available in free agency.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Elway puts on a full-court press for some of the veterans that might be available, like Kirk Cousins,” Tucker said.

“He doesn’t strike me as a very patient guy,” Tucker described of Elway. “I don’t know if he has the patience to see if another young quarterback can develop when he has all these guys — Von Miller, and (Aqib) Talib, and Chris Harris, all these guys in their prime now — I don’t know if he’s going to be willing to take a quarterback that high and see if he develops a year or two down the line.”

“I certainly think if the Broncos want to be in the mix, they absolutely would be in the mix,” Tucker continued. “I think there’s a very real chance that Denver is the most appetizing of Kirk Cousins’ available options.”
