NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport: ‘Broncos will be in the market for a veteran quarterback’

The future is cloudy for the Denver Broncos at quarterback, and with the Broncos’ roulette wheel for starting quarterbacks still spinning, what isn’t uncertain is the status of Paxton Lynch.

Out with an ankle injury suffered during the Oakland Raiders game last week, Lynch is believed to be out 2-to-4 weeks, pinning his return near the end of the season, if he even plays again this year.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport joined Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, and Rapoport said that missed opportunities for starting Lynch have been unfortunate, meaning that the jury’s still out on Lynch.

“I’m not sure the Broncos’ starting quarterback is on the roster,” Rapoport said. “With Paxton Lynch going into year three, you’d hope that it was him. I don’t think his story is written yet.”

The Broncos’ final five games likely won’t shed any new light on Lynch and his potential future in Denver. “I wish Paxton Lynch would’ve gotten that time and not gotten injured… I do think the Broncos will be in the market for a veteran quarterback; I’m just not sure which one it’s going to be.”
