The Denver Nuggets are red hot, winning four of their last five games. In the recent surge the team has found their stride with Nikola Jokic as the driving factor behind the team’s success.
Jokic has taken his game to another level as of late, recording a double-double in 11 straight games, while stamping himself as the best player on roster.
Jokic is averaging 14.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per contest this season. He’s warranted the Nuggs success, but for those of you that don’t know, it’s all about the team for the Joker.
“Playing together,” Jokic said about the root of the team’s recent success. That’s what it’s always been about for him. He enjoys passing rather then scoring, and nothing makes him happier then making sure everybody on the team is succeeding.
Maybe Jokic won’t give himself credit, but teammate Kenneth Faried was not afraid to talk about how Jokic’s recent tare has inspired the rest of the guys.
“He’s become his own player now,” Faried said. “He’s very confident in himself, and we (team) all love it because when he’s confident in himself it helps the team, you know now everybody else is confident. We really play around him and play through him … He’s a very talented player, and he helps the team, he helps everyone, and that’s how we are getting all these wins now.”
Jokic bursted onto the scene in Denver last season, but this year he has elevated his game to a new level. He’s becoming the face of the franchise and is establishing himself as one of, if not the best, passing big man in the game today.
It’s clear that when Nikola Jokic is locked in, the rest of the Nuggets are too. The Serbian’s dominance on the court mixed with his ability to boost his teammates play are direct results to the Nuggets recent stretch of success, and will likely be a driving factor for the team’s future this season.
