Nikola Jokic is still getting better as a passer

There’s a lot that goes into being a great player, and Nikola Jokic has a lot of outstanding traits.

His most important skill, by far, is his playmaking ability, setting the table for other players to score. Averaging an absurd 11.9 assists per game to start to year, Jokic continues to show that he’s getting better, aging like a fine wine, and able to take advantage of defenses that aren’t ready for the high level passing and cutting the Nuggets often demonstrate.

Jokic’s efficiency so far this season is breaking several metrics, and his all-around contributions have set the table for the Nuggets to hit the ground running to start the year. It’s all any fan can ask for on this long road toward a possible championship run.

On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down some impressive Nikola Jokic stats, Jonas Valanciunas, and more from the first nine games of the year. Then, he goes over the upcoming road trip and what fans should hope to see.

Pickaxe and Roll is the flagship Denver Nuggets show on Mile High Sports, posting every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (unless otherwise specified). Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Nuggets in detail, bringing news, analytics, rotations, and more into a show for hardcore Nuggets fans.
