Jokic rising up All-Time ranks at center position

After another incredible performance last night against the undermanned Sacramento Kings, it’s fun to once again ask the question: is Nikola Jokic the best center of all-time?

In terms of “greatest” center ever, Jokic still has a ways to go. Winning three MVPs is an incredible achievement, but the accumulation of several championships, Finals MVPs, and raw numbers over time helps to narrow the conversation down. Players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Shaquille O’Neal, and Hakeem Olajuwon sustained greatness over a long time.

Jokic is on the verge of joining that group, but there are plenty of steps for him still to take to reach that level of greatness. Fortunately, he still has time, and a possible playoff series win over an all-time great Oklahoma City Thunder team would go a long way toward establishing that “legacy” appeal.

On the latest Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Denver Nuggets domination over the Sacramento Kings, led by Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas. He discusses Jokic’s place among all-time great centers before asking how important the road win streak actually is.

Pickaxe and Roll is the flagship Denver Nuggets show on Mile High Sports, posting every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (unless otherwise specified). Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Nuggets in detail, bringing news, analytics, rotations, and more into a show for hardcore Nuggets fans.
