Nolan Arenado knows who he is and who he’s supposed to be.
He’s a leader in the clubhouse, a leader at the plate — hitting a team-high .317 — and a leader in the field, without a doubt.
Arenado’s also a fiery competitor who wears his emotions on his sleeve at times. Like, during his bloody-faced, walk-off, cycle-fulfilling winner last July.
The 27-year old also let those emotions show when he struck out and then took out his frustrations on the giant bucket of Hi-Chew gum in the dugout. Here’s footage of Arenado on Monday night, after striking out in the Rockies narrow, 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Well, Rockies twitter — which has been phenomenal the last few years, consistently interacting with fans — put together this little gem. It’s Arenado formally apologizing to the Hi-Chew bucket, all bandaged up.
Nolan and a @HiChew carton had a little run-in the other night. They’ve patched things up. 😊 https://t.co/SH9S13gO7N

After going 4-5 on their most recent road trip, the Rockies are off today before taking on the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game series starting Friday. That series starts a nine-game homestand for Colorado (26-24), who’s currently first in the NL West by 0.5 a game.
