Denver Nuggets forward Darrell Arthur has been battling a lingering knee issue all season long, forcing him to sit out most of the team’s games. Arthur played for the first time in three games Saturday, recording seven points and two rebounds in 13 minutes of action.
With that said, prior to the team’s game, head coach Michael Malone said that Arthur will likely be limited for the duration of the season.
“Probably throughout the rest of the year [it] is what we will have to do,” Malone said on limiting Arthur’s role moving forward. “The one thing you love about Darrell: he knows one speed and one way to play, and that’s hard.”
“We had two hard practices in London, and his knee swelled up because of that. So, I have to protect him from himself, and then obviously if you want him playing in games we have to limit his practice time, so we can get him in a game as much as possible. So, that’s just something we have to keep an eye on.”
Arthur’s knee issues date back to last season. Over the summer Arthur underwent a minor knee procedure in an attempt to help swelling, discomfort, and soreness.
Luckily for the Nuggets, they have depth at the forward position, allowing Arthur to focus on resting and rehabbing his knee.
Arthur is averaging 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in the 18 games he has appeared in this season.
