Thursday was a big day for the Denver Nuggets.

They snagged Kentucky guard Jamal Murray with the seventh pick, Spanish sharp shooter Juan Hernangomez with the 15th pick and Florida State guard Malik Beasley with the 19th pick in Thursdays draft.

One of the youngest teams in the NBA just got younger. But if you thought the Nuggets were content with their roster after the draft, you thought wrong.

Tim Connelly made it clear last night that the Nuggets were going to continue to make moves in both trades and free agency, and head coach Michael Malone echoed that thought on Friday when he joined Gil Whiteley on Mile High Sports Radio 1340 AM | 104.7 FM to discuss the Nuggets draft.

“We’re not done,” Malone said. “There are still avenues for us to become a better team and I know (Nuggets general manager) Tim (Connelly) and his staff will exhaust all of those opportunities.”

Now that the draft is out of the way, the focus has shifted towards both free agency and the trade market. If they decide to do so, the Nuggets have a few movable pieces that they can trade to bring some much needed veteran presence to the young the locker room.

“As we move into free agency and potential trades,” Malone said. “You always want to try to attract the best player that fits our culture, that fits what were trying to do and can really mentor and help all these young players grow and set the right example every day.”

2015 was a step in the right direction for the Nuggets who seem to be just a few pieces away from another playoff appearance. It will be up to Connelly and the rest of his staff to keep building on what seems to be a solid Nuggets core.
