On Tuesday, the Denver Nuggets signed veteran wingman Josh Childress to a non-guaranteed, one-year deal, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

The signing of Childress made him the first BIG3 player to sign with an NBA team. Childress played with The Ball Hogs in the Big3 3-on-3 league, one that mostly features retired National Basketball Association players.
The 34-year old was originally selected No. 6 overall in the 2004 draft by the Atlanta Hawks, where he showed promise as an athletic wing with range. He then left the NBA after the 2008 season to sign a lucrative contract in Greece signing for $20 million to play for Olympiacos.
He last appeared in an NBA regular-season game for the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2013-14 season.
Childress makes for an interesting signing for the Nuggets, who lack depth at the wing behind Wilson Chandler. Despite the fact that it’s a non-guaranteed deal for him — which indicates he’s being looked at as a training camp invite only — the shortage of wing players on the roster gives him a real chance, contingent on how he plays in training camp.
