After closing out the month of October being swept in a two-game weekend series against the Iowa Wild, the Colorado Eagles were able to rebound with a 3-2 victory over division rival Tucson to open up the month of November.
Here are the top five observations from the game:
Early-game power-play karma strikes again
Special teams continued to be an issue for the Eagles, as they were unable to convert on an early power-play opportunity against the Roadrunners in the first period.
After not being able to convert on their man-advantage, the Roadrunners earned a power-play chance of their own — where Roadrunners defenseman Trevor Murphy wired a wrist shot past Eagles goaltender Pavel Francouz to help the Roadrunners claim the early 1-0 lead.

Ability to rebound following trailing early
Despite being unable to convert on the power play earlier in the opening period, the Eagles were able to quickly respond with a goal of their own with a goal from Eagles forward Steve Kosmachuk at the 14:09 mark to tie the game at one goal a piece.
Kosmachuk continues to be good for the Eagles to begin the season, recording seven points in the first nine games of the season — including a two-point performance Friday night against the Roadrunners.
Ty Lewis remains hot for the Eagles
With the second period winding down and the Eagles trailing by one goal, the Eagles came up with an equalizing, power-play goal from Eagles forward Ty Lewis at the 13:41 mark of the second period to tie the game at two.
During the past four games for the Eagles, Lewis remains hot for the team with five points, including a goal and an assist in the Eagles’ 3-2 win Friday.
Pavel Francouz continues to impress for the Eagles
In a tough game against a skilled Roadrunners team, it is always a good thing to have a goaltender who is capable of coming up with the big saves to help the team come away with the large two points to open up the weekend.
Making 27 saves tonight against the Roadrunners, Francouz was able to keep the Eagles within striking distance the entire night. With the Eagles being able to come up with the go-ahead goal late in the final frame, Francouz helped by closing the door and holding back the late Roadrunners’ onslaught to help his team come away with the victory.
Late-game heroics from veterans
Leaders lead by example on and off of the ice, and in a tight game against a tough Roadrunners team, experience ended up being the difference-maker as the Eagles were able to come away with the 3-2 victory due to a late power-play goal from Eagles forward Andrew Agozzino with 2:40 remaining in the third period to claim the victory in a tightly contested battle.
