What a swing of emotions. The Colorado Avalanche started last night’s game with their hair on fire. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period against the Wild. After trading goals in the second period Colorado entered the final frame up 4-1. Then, the wheels fell off. Minnesota scored four goals in the third period to steal the opener and break the hearts of everyone at the Pepsi Center.
Ryan Murphy of Mile High Hockey joined Morning Mayhem with Danny Williams and Marcello Romano to discuss what went wrong in game number #1.
“What we saw was two periods of good and one period of very, very bad,” Murphy said.
The consistent play period-to-period was a problem for Colorado last year. It’s an issue that Patrick Roy is going to have to correct fast if the Avalanche have any hope of making the playoffs.
