Outlaws break MLL attendance record

In the 10th annual Mile High Fourth of July game, the Denver Outlaws broke the Major League Lacrosse record for most fans in attendance with 31,644 in a 22-9 loss to the Boston Cannons.

Denver previously held the record with last year’s Fourth of July game, which had an attendance of 31,019.

As for the game itself, the Outlaws jumped off to a good start, scoring the first three goals before the Cannons went on an eight-point run to close out the first quarter. Boston continued with that momentum throughout the game when they took a 13-7 lead at the half and outscored Denver 5-0 in the third. The Cannons closed out the game with a 4-2 fourth quarter while the Outlaws recorded its season-low nine goals and three assists.

With the loss, Denver (5-6) fell four games behind the first place New York Lizards and into a tie for fifth place with the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

Drew Snider scored his 16th career hat trick and Eric Law continued his shot-on-goal streak, with one goal on one-shot on goal. Law has 15 straight games with at least one shot on goal.

The Outlaws will take on the New York Lizards Thursday at 5:30 p.m. MDT at Shuart Stadium in their final away game before taking on the Florida Launch and New York at home to close out the 2015 season.
