Fresh off of winning their first game of the season 16-12 in their home opener against the New York Lizards (1-2) on Friday, the Denver Outlaws (1-2) will look to extend their winning streak to two games on the road against the Florida Launch (1-1) Sunday.
“It is going to be a challenge,” Outlaws head coach BJ O’Hara said following the game against the Lizards, ” we are going to be getting on a plane in the morning and Florida will be fresh from not playing this weekend yet, so it is going to be a real challenge for us. We have a couple of new guys coming in that will give us some fresh legs, and hopefully, we can learn from some of the things that we did today [Friday against the Lizards] and carry it forward [Sunday against the Launch.]”
The Launch definitely will have a long rest, as the last time they played was their home opener last Saturday against the Chesapeake Bayhawks (1-2) — a game in which the Launch were handed their first loss of the season with a 14-11 final.
Despite the loss, the Launch would continue to push the pace of the game with multiple players having multi-point performances, including attackmen Ryan Drenner (3 goals), Dylan Molloy (2 goals), and midfielder Steven Brooks (3 assists).
What to expect from the Outlaws against the Launch
Picking up their first win on Friday against the Lizards, the Outlaws will look to carry that momentum into the game against the Launch. This will include the things that they did right against the Lizards, which were highlighted by Outlaws leading scoring attackman Matt Kavanagh following the Outlaws victory over the Lizards, and what they will try to take into the game against the Launch on Sunday.
“I think that we did a really good job winning face offs, and I think that we did a good job at getting long possessions to tire down the Lizards defense,” Kavanagh said.
“In this league it is tough with the 60 second shot clock, so defenses know when the shots are coming, but when we continually get deep into the shot clock I think they [opponent defenses] tire out. So I think just being smart with the ball, and getting good possession will give us a good chance.”
How to catch the action
