Paxton Lynch showed the Broncos what to expect long term

Trevor Siemian was in a groove on Sunday against the Buccaneers before being thrown to the ground on his left shoulder late in the second quarter. After being carted off to the locker room with a left AC joint sprain, the quarterback position was handed to Paxton Lynch. He did not disappoint.

“He looks like he belongs,” former CU Buffalo and NFL wideout Mike Pritchard told Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Afternoon Drive on Mile High Sports Radio. “He looks like a guy that has taken his time and made it valuable, in terms of watching from the sidelines and certainly getting prepared from training camp and the coaching staff. He looked like a first-year player that was ready to play that game.”

Lynch completed 14 of his 24 attempts for 170 yards and one touchdown in his NFL debut without turning the ball over. He added a couple of scrambles to show off his athleticism, too. For now, though, it looks as if Coach Kubiak will not make any changes to the quarterback position if Siemian is healthy enough to play in Week 5. Nonetheless, Lynch did give us a sneak peek into the future of the Broncos organization.

“That’s the beauty of Coach Kubiak and his offense with the system that they run,” Pritchard said. “You pay attention to it and you lock in; it shouldn’t be that complicated. For long-term reasons, the guy [Lynch] overwhelmed you because of his potential and what he could become is everything you want in a franchise.”

The Broncos coaching staff is excited about Lynch and his future with this franchise. He has soaked up a lot of information during training camp and it showed in the second half against the Buccaneers.
