Predicting Bo Nix’s 2025 season is a hot topic of debate.
Some believe he will go through a sophomore slump, while others think he’ll only improve on last year’s success.
With the NFL season less than a week from kicking off, predictions are favoring what the Denver Broncos have built.
Predicting Bo Nix’s 2025 season: A top-10 quarterback
Broncos Country knows Bo Nix is the key to a second straight playoff appearance.
His play is even more important this year than it was last year, because now he has to prove it wasn’t a fluke.
The good news is, when ESPN’s Mike Clay is predicting Bo Nix’s 2025 season, he thinks it’s going to go great.
Clay has Nix as the No. 10 fantasy quarterback, which translates to great numbers for the real Denver Broncos, too. He projects Nix will have 3,955 yards, 27 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Add in 419 rushing yards and 3 rushing scores as well.
Somewhat surprisingly, Clay believes Nix will throw for more yards but fewer touchdowns. He’s also projecting the Broncos will take many more sacks this year; Nix took a mere 24 sacks as a rookie.
Overall, these are numbers most Denver die-hards would take.
When it comes to the Broncos QB room on the whole, Clay gave Denver a 5-out-of-10 grade. Nix, the running back room (4) and the wideouts (3) bring the team’s offensive rank down to 19th. In fact, Clay projects the Broncos wide receivers as the worst group in the league.
Per those grades, Denver’s offense is the worst among the 14 teams shown here.
He does project that Courtland Sutton will have a 1,000-yard season, though. That would be only his third ever as a professional.
Finally, Clay has R.J. Harvey and J.K. Dobbins splitting duties: Each of them will have 700-plus yards and 5 touchdowns.
Broncos will make the playoffs again
Denver’s going back to the playoffs, and just like The Athletic’s projections, Clay’s have the Broncos as the AFC’s 5th seed.
But he thinks the team is a bit better than The Athletic, with a win total of 9.9 games. That’s extremely close to the Chiefs projection of 10.1 games.
Could this be the year the Broncos finally win the AFC West again?
Obviously, the strength of the team lies on the defensive side. ESPN’s projections have Denver as the No. 3 defense in this upcoming season.
Surprisingly, though, Clay is sleeping on the Broncos edge rushers.
Nik Bonitto and Jonathan Cooper and the rest of the group earned Denver’s lowest grade on defense with a 5-out-of-10. CBs earned a 7 while every other group earned an 8.
The good news is, multiple models are predicting the Broncos will be in the playoffs this year, which is certainly the expectation by fans.
Denver’s season kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 2:05 p.m. MT as they host the Tennessee Titans.
