With the Broncos and Raiders about to kick off in four hours from now, Denver just got good news in terms of matchups for their defense.
The Las Vegas Raiders announced Sunday morning they are putting wide receiver Bryan Edwards and backup quarterback Marcus Mariota on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
We have placed WR Bryan Edwards and QB Marcus Mariota on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
We have also activated QB Nathan Peterman and WR Dillon Stoner from the practice squad. #DENvsLV

Edwards, a second-year wideout for the Raiders, has quickly become a key part of their passing attack this year. He’s started in 11 games and his 508 receiving yards are third on the team behind Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller. Edwards’ 3 touchdowns this year are also tied for second-best on the Raiders, with Renfrow’s 5 leading the way.
Edwards is not only a valuable pass-catcher, but he was going to be even more valuable in today’s game against Denver’s talented defense because Waller is likely not going to play.
He was officially labeled as doubtful for today’s game on Friday, meaning he has a 25 percent chance of playing. Waller is an incredible talent who can create space with ease in the middle of the field, and he’s been a thorn in the side of the Broncos defense for years, too.
Without Waller and now Edwards, the Raiders will likely focus their passing efforts on Renfrow. If he lines up in the slot as per usual, the Broncos will rely on Bryce Callahan to slow down Renfrow, which is a great matchup for Denver.
Outside of Renfrow, there’s Zay Jones who was limited this week with a toe injury, who has 28 receptions for 349 yards and 1 TD this year. And DeSean Jackson has also contributed in a small way, with 7 receptions for 184 yards and a score.
Considering all the injuries — as well as the suspension/arrest of Henry Ruggs III — expect the Raiders to run the ball relentlessly today. Josh Jacobs and Peyton Barber will be featured in all likelihood, while the Broncos have allowed an NFL-best 7 rushing touchdowns this year.
Broncos – Raiders kicks off at 2:25 p.m. MST in Las Vegas with both teams fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive.
