In Round 1, the Denver Broncos made a splash by trading up to get quarterback Paxton Lynch out of Memphis. In Rounds 2 and 3, they stood pat, waiting for their player to come to them.
In Round 2, the Broncos selected Adam Gotsis, to the surprise of many.
With the final pick of Day 2 of the NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Justin Simmons, safety from Boston College.

#Broncos needed to add S for two reasons: Darian Stewart might not be easy to sign after another big year. And lost Bruton.

Our 3rd rd pick is Justin Simmons, a big rangy safety from Boston College. He's a center fielder with great cover skills.

Simmons should be able to come in and play David Bruton role from Day 1. Also eventual starter. He was a free safety in college.

Third round pick makes good sense to me. #Broncos

Great pick by #Broncos w/Simmons. I know this because I just read it off my TV screen, although, I've never seen him play. 2nd team all ACC!

Don't be surprised to see Justin Simmons in sub package work right away, filling Bruton's role.
