After missing the last four weeks with back issues, the Denver Broncos’ star pass rusher DeMarcus Ware is set to make his return this weekend.

And while the Broncos defense has remained the league’s top unit in his absence, his return will be a very welcome addition.
Before suffering his injury in Week 5, Ware was on pace for 18 sacks, and even during his short return in Weeks 8 and 9, he added two more quarterback takedowns to his stat sheet; Ware, who’s already one of the greatest pass rushers in NFL history, was arguably having the best season of his career.
Shaquil Barrett and Shane Ray have performed admirably in his absence, and they’d be the No. 1 option on nearly every other team, but they are not DeMarcus Ware. Now, with No. 94 back in the mix, the Broncos’ two young pass rushers can go back to being the best second unit in football. And as the season grows longer and the games get tougher, they’ll need them to be just as impactful in relief of Ware and Von Miller as they were as starters.
