The Denver Broncos’ loss on Sunday dealt a blow to their record, but arguably one of their biggest losses was cornerback Patrick Surtain II.
Right now, the initial belief is that Surtain avoided a major injury.
Report: Denver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II believed to have avoided major injury
Broncos Country was holding its breath on Sunday after cornerback Patrick Surtain II went down right before halftime with a non-contact injury.
Surtain went down on the field while dropping back into coverage in a shuffle technique. He walked off the field with his arms around trainers but was able to put weight on his foot. He walked back to the locker room with trainers instead of being carted off, which is a good sign.
He did not return for the second half of play, though.
The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero first reported that the initial belief is that Surtain avoided a major injury and that his Achilles is intact. He also reported that Surtain will undergo additional testing, but the initial news and belief is better than most people thought.
We’ll update this when/if there is more information that comes out surrounding his injury, but there is no known timetable or official diagnosis yet.
