With the news that Robert Griffin III has signed with the Cleveland Browns, it looked as if Broncos Country was one step closer to solving their quarterback conundrum. The signing meant that there was one less quarterback suitor in the market, allowing John Elway and the Broncos to move forward with limited competition.

The immediate conclusion was that this opened the door for the Colin Kaepernick trade that so many have been speculating about these last few weeks. Based on reports, the Browns seemed to be the only other legitimate option for Kaepernick this offseason; with them out of the picture, the cards would seemingly be in Elway’s favor.

But Kaepernick isn’t the only quarterback who has become more available with the signing of RGIII. According to Ian Rapoport, former Browns starter Josh McCown is now on the trading block, too.

And according to Mile High Sports Radio’s Benjamin Allbright, the Broncos are interested.

McCown, 36, is currently one year into the three-year, $14 million contract he signed in Cleveland last offseason, and he’s projected to carry a $5 million cap hit into the 2016 season. A trade for McCown, barring the movement of Mark Sanchez, would mean that the Broncos would be paying roughly $10 million for two journeyman quarterbacks.

It would be an interesting move, to say the least.
