Even if Peyton Manning does retire, that southern drawl of his isn’t going anywhere.
And no, we’re not talking about his “Chicken Parm You Taste So Good” commercials. According to Michael McCarthy of SportingNews, the NFL Network will be reaching out the moment he retires to see if The Sheriff’s on-field talents can translate to the television screen.
“NFL Network is always interested in former players who are looking to enter the media business when they step away from the game. Should that be the decision Peyton makes this offseason, I’m sure we’ll reach out to him,” said spokesman Alex Riethmiller in a statement to Sporting News.
And why not? He’s already proven to be a natural on camera — there’s a reason his face pops up on every other commercial during football Sundays.
And his SNL appearance is still an all-time classic!
If Manning were to join the ranks of the NFL Network, he’d be working alongside the likes of Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk and fellow Broncos’ legend Terrell Davis.
But NFL Network likely won’t be the only suitor vying for Manning’s talent; ESPN, Fox Sports and others are sure to be fast on their heels.
