According to ESPN senior writer Marc J. Spears, the Denver Nuggets have shown interest in veteran guard Garrett Temple.
Spears noted that the Brooklyn Nets have shown a strong interest in Temple while the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets are also interested.
After going drafted out of LSU in 2009, Temple has carved out a nice NBA career. Now at 33-years old, Temple is a career 35 percent shooter from three-point range and would provide Denver with some additional fire power off the bench to go with some team defense
Temple is a nine-year veteran that has played on eight NBA teams throughout his career. most recently, Temple played on the Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, and Los Angeles Clippers.
After being traded from Memphis to Los Angeles at last year’s trade deadline, Temple averaged 4.7 points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 26 games with the Clippers. Temple’s best season came before the trade to Los Angeles as he averaged 9.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game with the Grizzlies, both of which were career highs.
Back in 2016, Temple signed a three-year, $24 million deal with the Sacramento Kings, which is similar to a deal he could get this offseason. That would allow Denver to potentially sign Temple with their Mid-level Exception, worth $9.258 million, or their Bi-annual Exception, worth $3.623 million
Denver announced they will pick up Paul Millsap’s team option on Friday, while also extending a qualifying offer to Trey Lyles. Free agency officially begins this afternoon at 4 pm local time.
