The Colorado Rockies were shutout in San Francisco for a second consecutive night, as the Giants came away with a 3-0 victory Saturday. The loss to the Giants drops the Rockies to second place in the NL West. Los Angeles now holds a slim 1/2 game lead over Colorado after beating the Cardinals by 13 this afternoon.

Offensive inconsistencies have plagued the Rockies throughout the season and the inability to put runs on the board has killed Colorado in the first two games of this series. After getting blanked again Saturday night, the Rockies have not scored a run since the seventh inning of Thursday’s victory over Arizona.

Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner was able to toss six scoreless innings for San Francisco in the Giants’ victory. The veteran starter only struck out two batters, but he commanded the strike zone throughout and only had one walk in the victory.

In a losing effort, starting pitcher German Marquez went six innings for Colorado as well. Marquez struck out four, gave up seven hits and had three earned runs.

At the plate, six of Colorado’s nine starters recorded a hit, but nobody had more than one Saturday night.

The Rockies will try to keep pace in a tight playoff race and avoid getting swept Sunday afternoon in the final game of the series. Antonio Senzatela will be on the mound for Colorado, with first pitch scheduled for 2:05 p.m. MT.
