The Colorado Rockies took care of business against the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday night, beating the boys from Hollywood 12-2.
Rockies starter Tyler Anderson found himself in some trouble early on, surrendering two runs on a Justin Turner bomb in the first; however, he buckled down after, allowing just six hits total on the night.
“Definitely settled in after that [home run],” Anderson said. “It’s fun … We want to win every single day.”
The Rockies put on a home run barrage in front of their fans, hitting five during the game.
Manager Walt Weiss was impressed with what he saw out of the bats.
“It’s important for everyone to step up period.” said Weiss “There are different ways to win baseball games. We don’t always have to hit the ball into the seats, but we are capable of that, we showed it tonight.”
It was a great night overall for the Rockies; however, they lost Carlos Gonzalezto an apparent ankle injury.
Gonzalez departed the game in the bottom of the seventh inning and did not return.
Luckily for Rockies fans Weiss thinks CarGo will be just fine.
“Initial reports are pretty positive” said Weiss. “It sounds like he is going to be ok.”
The win over the Dodgers solidified the Rockies’ fourth straight series win, and a Major League best 14-5 record out of the All-Star break. The Rox are also over .500 for the first time since May 18, and are just three games out of a Wild Card spot.
