In 2007, the Colorado Rockies finished the regular season by winning 14 of 15 games to leap from fourth place in the NL West into what would eventually become their first and only World Series appearance. Mile High Sports celebrates the anniversary of ‘Rocktober’ by recapping each game from each of those days ten years ago.

ROCKIES 2, PHILLIES 1
The Rockies beat the Phillies in the third game of the postseason, and their seventh in a row overall, to sweep Philadelphia and move on to the National League Championship Series.
The game turned into a pitcher’s duel until the fifth inning, when catcher Yorvit Torrealba would single and second baseman Kazuo Matsui would triple to bring home the game’s first run. Phillies right fielder Shane Victorino equalized the game in the seventh with a solo home run.
Pinch-hitter Jeff Baker broke the tie after back-to-back singles, singling to right field to drive in third baseman Garrett Atkins. Closer Manny Corpas shut down the Phillies in a three-up, three-down ninth inning to close out the win and the series.
Starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez only allowed one run on three hits through six and one-third innings of work, including five strikeouts. The Rockies used three relief pitchers, allowing no additional hits or runs.
For the first time in franchise history, the Rockies had won a playoff series, and they did so in a sweep. The Rockies moved on to the NLCS where they would face off against in-division rival Arizona Diamondbacks.
