It didn’t take guard Ronald Leary to find a new home once free agency opened on Thursday. On Wednesday, he was a Dallas Cowboy. By Thursday, he was a Denver Bronco. Leary, who prefers to be called “Ron,” joined Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports Radio’s Afternoon Drive on Friday.
“I’m just glad to be in Denver and be a part of this organization,” Leary said. “It’s an honor.
“They’ve got a great thing going around here; one of the best defenses over the last couple of years, they’ve got a lot of young guys on the o-line who are just getting better every year; and I just try to come and just add to it.”
Leary is coming from one of the NFL’s best offensive lines in the Cowboys. After excelling both protecting Dak Prescott and opening holes for Ezekiel Elliott last season, he hopes to bring some of what made the unit in Dallas so good, with him to Denver.
“Just the way we worked,” he said. “We were a real unselfish group down there. We didn’t care about individual things, we just cared about being a great o-line.”
In fact, after talking with Max Garcia and Matt Paradis, Leary thinks that some of that unselfish attitude is already present in the Mile High City.
“Talking to Garcia and Paradis, they feel the exact same way. They would have fit in perfectly with the o-line down there in Dallas. They just want to be great and work hard. You can’t do anything but respect guys like that.”
