Pop quiz hotshot. Which Broncos running back had more 100-yard games in 2014, Ronnie Hillman or C.J. Anderson?
Well, you’ve read the headline of this story, so you’re probably going to guess Hillman even though your gut wants to say Anderson.
Both instincts would be wrong. Because both backs had two 100-yard games in 2014. Surprised?
Adam Kinney of the BSN Denver Sports Desk (Mile High Sports AM 1340 | 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.) isn’t. And neither is Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak.
Hillman has been seeing increased reps throughout training camp and looks poised to challenge both C.J. Anderson and Montee Ball for carries as the competition increases in advance of the regular season.
Following Sunday’s training camp practice, Kubiak was laudatory about Hillman’s work, saying, “I think Ronnie Hillman has been a consistent performer throughout camp so far…”
“There’s a difference when some guys are back there,” he continued, “and they’re that five-and-six yard player and they have the ability to maybe make a big play. Every time he touches it, he has a chance for a home run. He runs with confidence between the tackles and maybe we get to the point where I’m doing these things with him, I don’t know, but I don’t see a reason for that right now. I see him doing everything we do.
On Monday’s edition of BSN Denver Sports Desk, Kinney and co-host Josh Dover dove into the details about Hillman’s underrated performance in 2014 and how he is likely to factor largely into Kubiak’s game plan in 2015.
