As first reported by Jeff Cox then by Bob McKenzie of TSN, Boston University forward Shane Bowers is expected to leave BU and sign with the Colorado Avalanche.
Touted as a 200-foot two-way forward, Bowers’ offensive numbers took a bit of a dip during his sophomore season with the Terriers. The native of Halifax, Nova Scotia, scored 11 goals and added 10 assists in 37 games. During his freshman season in 2017-18, Bowers recorded 17 goals and 15 assists.
Listed at 6’2″ and 180 lbs, Bowers was drafted 28th overall in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft by the Ottawa Senators. He was acquired by the Avalanche on November 6th of that year in the blockbuster three-way trade that sent Avalanche forward Matt Duchene to the Ottawa Senators.
