Chris Harris Jr. is campaigning for the Denver Broncos to bring back defensive end Malik Jackson.
Jackson, 29, was released by Jacksonville on Friday. In three seasons with the Jaguars, Jackson made 42 starts, recorded 105 total tackles and totalled 14.5 sacks. While the veteran defensive end performed relatively well during his time with the Jaguars, he never quite lived up to his six-year $90 million contract.
Prior to signing with Jacksonville in 2016, Jackson spent the 2012-15 seasons in a Broncos uniform. After the Broncos won Super Bowl 50, a game in which Jackson shined, the former fifth round pick was one of multiple players to leave through free agency shortly after.
During his Broncos tenure, Jackson, was a dominant force for Denver’s defensive line. His efforts did not always show up in the statline, but his work inside often allowed Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware to break free on the outside. In four seasons with the Broncos, Jackson had 15 pass deflections, 14. sacks and 147 total tackles.
Although Super Bowl 50 was a long time ago, after letting Domata Peko walk, the Broncos could elect to reunite Jackson with Derek Wolfe for the 2019 season. The duo performed extremely well together in the past. A trio of Jackson, Wolfe and Shelby Harris would be also be a nightmare for opposing offenses.
