The Denver Nuggets ditched Ty Lawson this offseason for a much more mature point guard — who’s only 19 years old.
Emmanuel Mudiay has impressed everyone in town so far from his conference call on draft night to presser here in Denver. The kid says all the right things, is damn good at basketball and is an incredibly refreshing change of pace from the troubled Lawson who had a litany of issues.
On Wednesday Mile High Sports got to hang out with Mudiay, conducting a lengthy cover shoot for the November issue of Mile High Sports Magazine as well as an extensive interview for a feature story that will be penned by MHSM Editor-in-chief Doug Ottewill.
The coolest part about the photo shoot? It was on the Pepsi Center roof… Seriously.
Check out six nuggets from the day with Mudiay as told by the MHS Twitter account. This was a really fun one. First up, how do you even get to the Pepsi Center roof?
No. 6 — There’s literally just a door up there
DID YOU KNOW: You actually have a great view from the last row. Watch the video to see where the it leads… pic.twitter.com/Z7CyKnK1k2

Normally, you’d have to jump over a seat to get through there, but the kind staff at Pepsi Center removed that. This was a pretty cool I-bet-you-didn’t-know-this-type-of-thing-exists; going straight from the last row to a gorgeous view of Denver was awesome.
No. 5 — The view of Sports Authority Field is great too
.@HERSH_65 We've got that view too pic.twitter.com/tc7909kRBe

That’s actually just the synthetic surface below the ice. No frozen water is on top of that bad boy yet, but we are just 20 days away from preseason Avs action.
No. 3 — Mudiay was a great sport during the photo shoot
SNEAK PEEK: Nuggets rookie Emmanuel Mudiay's November cover shoot just went down. He's going to be a beast. pic.twitter.com/k5VY6z34Ja

He dribbled, spun the ball on his finger, gripped it and did whatever was asked. He posed for some without the ball too. Quick note: That’s actually a Kenneth Faried jersey. It won’t look that way on the cover. Stay tuned.

He’s also poised, mature, intelligent, kind — there aren’t enough buzz words to describe Mudiay and his demeanor. He just gets it. Wait until you read Ottewill’s story — he has a lot of great material to work with.
No. 1 — This should give you chills
QUOTABLE: @nuggets rookie @emmanuelmudiay: "I'm trying to bring a championship to Denver. They don't have one yet. I want that."

Welcome, young man. Make that happen and you’ll be a hero in this town forever.
