Down 10 to the Baltimore Ravens, Teddy Bridgewater was forced to exit the game with a concussion, meaning Drew Lock had to enter the game in the second half and attempt the comeback.

The backup, whose job it is to enter the game in case of injury with little preparation in practice the week before, and keep the offense afloat, was not up to the task, though the entire offense was pretty underwhelming.

“It’s difficult in that he doesn’t get the reps when you’re thrown in there cold, but I still think his below-average play was just a part of our whole offense that day,” Fangio said. “We just weren’t very good offensively last Sunday.”

After such an underwhelming performance, the Broncos are hopeful Bridgewater will be able to re-enter the lineup, are in doing everything in their power to make that hope a reality.

On Wednesday, Fangio announced that Bridgewater had already re-entered the team meeting rooms and the weight room, and could even be practicing in some capacity as soon as Thursday. That’s huge, as many thought Bridgewater wouldn’t be able to practice at all until Friday, when practice is more of a walkthrough than a standard intensive practice.

Either way though, it’s sounding hopeful that the Broncos will be more prepared at quarterback this week than they were last.

“I know Teddy [Bridgewater] is taking care of himself,” Sutton said. “He’s getting himself prepared to be able to come back with how that process goes. I know Drew is preparing himself for whatever the situation may come out to be, whether he has to go out there and play at the beginning, or God forbid, he has to come into the game later in the game. I’m pretty sure he’s preparing himself to be prepared so that if he has to go out there, he’s ready.”
