Tomorrow may be cut down day, but the Denver Broncos are getting a bit of a head start.
Friday morning, news began breaking that a handful of roster hopefuls had been told to pack their bags and turn in their playbook, starting with cornerback John Tidwell, a local kid from Aurora, Colorado.

Not long after that, a few more names were release.

Many of those early names look to be potential practice squad candidates if they can clear waivers. And while guys like Dora and Sulleyman impressed fans during the preseason, nobody with real cache — as in, nobody with a regular season snap with the Denver Broncos — had been cut.
That was, until fan-favorite Juwan Thompson.

Following Thompson, Lynch’s teammate at Memphis, Mose Frazier was the next to go. He flashed during training camp and the preseason, and could likely earn spot on the Broncos practice squad.

Lars Hanson, an undrafted rookie tackle out of Sacramento State, was also cut on Friday.

One of the more disappointing cuts may be former Pro-Bowler Henry Melton, who was injured early in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Cardinals and pushed through the pain to finish out the final two quarters.

The Broncos then continued their cut-down by releasing guard Robert Myers.

On Saturday, the Denver Broncos continued the process of cutting down their roster to 53, starting with the release of safety Ryan Murphy.

Murphy was a seventh-round section by the Seattle Seahawks in last year’s draft.
For the next few hours, the Broncos would remain silent as the clock ticked down to the deadline. With the clock reaching zero, the Broncos hadn’t made a peep. Part of the delay likely stemmed from the organization’s interest in moving Mark Sanchez, Ronnie Hillman and a few more pieces via trade.
But then, within minutes of each other, news broke on the Broncos two biggest cuts of the offseason.

By releasing Hillman and Sanchez, the Broncos will save over $4 million and a conditional seventh-round draft pick that was due to the Eagles if Sanchez made the final roster.
