There’s more than standings on the line in Houston

The Colorado Rapids enter Saturday’s match with Houston looking for three crucial points to catapult them over the Dynamo and escape last place in MLS’s Western Conference. But there is more on the line than those three points and standings for the 2015 season.

With a win Saturday, Colorado can extend its current MLS undefeated streak against Houston – a stretch that now extends more than six years.

During that span Colorado is unbeaten in 10 matches, including four meetings in Houston. Their overall record since the April 19, 2009 loss (in which current head coach Pablo Mastroeni played) is 6-0-4, including a win and a loss from earlier this season.

In their third MLS league match of the 2015 season, the two clubs ran to a 0-0 draw at Houston on March 28. More recently, Colorado earned a 2-1 win at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, exactly one month ago (Aug. 26).

Houston hasn’t been completely devoid of success, however. They earned a win at BBVA Compass Stadium on June 30, a 1-0 victory in U.S. Open Cup play.

Colorado and Houston kick at 6:30 PM MDT. Catch the game on Mile High Sports AM 1340 or stream live online our via the Mile High Sports app.
