Tottenham making the most of trip to Colorado

While Tottenham Hotspur has been in Colorado, they have been dong much more than just preparing for a game against the MLS All-Stars and then jetting off back to the U.K.

From the players visiting historic Denver landmarks to Tottenham’s club ambassadors going around promoting the club, this has been an eventful three days, with the main event culminating tonight.

Tottenham has taken an active approach to getting involved in the community in a variety of ways and that is highly commendable from the Spurs. The turnout and reaction from the people in Colorado shows they certainly appreciated this.

On Monday, Tottenham’s club ambassador Ledley King was on hand for the Youth Grassroots-Coaching Clinic at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. During the event young players were treated to the same player development model that is used by Tottenham back home.

On Tuesday, Tottenham players Harry Winks, Kieran Tripper, Ben Davies, Nacer Chadli and Eric Dier joined Totemham club ambassador Ledley King on a visit to Children’s Hospital Colorado. Bringing a smile to these children’s faces and creating memories that will last for a lifetime are what these special events are all about.

King and Friedel both also made time for the Denver media, with Friedel joining Channel 2 on Tuesday morning to discuss Spurs-MLS All-Star game, and King making an appearance on Mile High Sports Radio to do the same.

Continuing on during a busy Tuesday, Tottenham club ambassadors King and Friedel visited with some Denver Outlaws players at Sports Authority Field. Outlaws Jeremy Sieverts and Jon Grant Jr. met up with the Tottenham club ambassadors and talked lacrosse and soccer. With lacrosse and soccer both growing rapidly in the United States, this was the perfect meeting between these two organizations.

Tuesday evening ended with another supporter’s event at Blake Street Tavern similar to the event on Monday, this time with King and Friedel in attendance. In turned out to be another rousing success and certainly a memorable night for all Spurs fans, not just in Colorado, but also for Spurs fans traveling from all over the United States to be here.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, there was still one more event to be taken care of before the MLS All-Star Game. 5-a-side teams from different supporter’s clubs from around the United States competed in a Challenge Cup, with the San Diego Spurs Supporters group coming away with the victory. Without a doubt, this was another fun-filled event managed by Tottenham Hotspur and their main sponsor Under Armour, and a great way to lead up to the main event Wednesday evening.

With the English Premier League season starting in 11 days, fans could have expected Tottenham to come to Colorado and just focus solely on their preseason training and competing in the MLS All-Star Game.

But that was not an option for the Spurs. Over these three days, since arriving on Sunday, Tottenham have made a deliberate attempt to connect with Colorado and specifically the city of Denver, helping to grow the sport immensely in their short time at a mile high.

Unquestionably, Tottenham’s visit to Colorado has been a sensational success and the MLS could not have selected a better opponent to ring in the 20th anniversary Major League Soccer All-Star Game.
