Training Camp Takeaways: 3.5 things we learned from day two of Broncos football

We’re two days into the Denver Broncos football season, and while the guys haven’t played much more than two-hand touch, that’s more than we’ve seen in six months.

But what have we learned?

Short answer: Not much.

Longer answer: A whole bunch of stuff we’re sure to forget or have proven wrong by Week 1.

Nonetheless, here’s what you may have missed, starting with a quick recap from Mile High Sports Radio’s own Benny Bash of The Big Show.

Ty Sambrailo’s move to guard

There had been rumors that with the signings of Russell Okung and Donald Stephenson, Sambrailo, who started at left tackle last season until he was injured, would move inside to guard, and so far that seems to be the case.

And he, along with the rest of the offensive line, were putting in the work on Friday.

His only real competition for the starting guard spot would be the rookie, Connor McGovern, but if Sambrailo is healthy, you’d have to imagine the job is his.

Jordan “Sunshine” Taylor!

For a guy who spent last season on the practice squad, Jordan “Sunshine” Taylor may have more love and adoration from Broncos Country than just about anybody on that field, and it’s because of plays like this.

If “Sunshine” keeps hauling in passes like that, he’ll make whoever’s throwing him the ball a superstar.

The defense is still really, really good

While the Broncos offense is still searching for their starting quarterback, Denver’s defense is set and ready to rumble.

Defenses tend to come out of the gates a little quicker than offenses in training camp, so take all this with a grain of salt, but the Broncos defense is looking as if they haven’t skipped a beat, while the offense is still working out the kinks.

And while DeMarcus Ware and others are still sidelined with injury, it looks as if Aqib Talib is getting closer to returning to the field.
