Travis Hunter, the star wide receiver and cornerback from the University of Colorado, has his sights set on the NFL.

As one of the top prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, Hunter has thrown out one team that he would like to land with: The Denver Broncos.

“I wish I could go to the Broncos, just to stay in Colorado because so many people welcomed [me] with open arms,” Hunter said on the ‘Kickin It With Dee’ Podcast. “They showed us love that we would never have gotten in a different spot.”

While Hunter has made it known he’d like to stay in Colorado, it might cost the Broncos to secure him.

In many mock drafts, experts have Hunter going in the top 5, with some even having him go first overall. If the Broncos want the best shot at Hunter, they’d have to really start losing this season. There is the option of trading up in the draft, but it would likely cost the Broncos a hefty sum of future draft picks.

With Hunter already performing like a generational talent in college, giving up that many draft picks might just be worth it.

“I want to be the first pick,” said Hunter. “I never dreamed of it until a couple of years ago when I knew I had a chance to become the first pick. That became my main goal, to become the first pick.”

Travis Hunter embraced by Boulder

Ever since transferring from Jackson State, it didn’t take long for Hunter to become a fan favorite in Boulder. Because of the warm welcome he received from Buffs fans, Hunter considers Colorado to be like a second home.

“My neighbors know my car in the neighborhood so like man, they come over there like before every game or before every time we leave and like go to the team hotel they have a sign in front of my truck, that’s cool and they say, ‘he’s everywhere’ ‘he’s him,’ like they switch it up every game so I get to see that and that’s cool. Then I get the little kids in the neighborhood to come over and want me to sign stuff that’s cool because I want to leave an impact on this community over here,” said Hunter. “I mean they took us in with open arms. Yeah, so I mean the fan base here is pretty good. I mean it’s probably one of the best.”

Because of the bond he’s formed with the fans, it’s become public knowledge where he lives in Boulder. During the podcast, Hunter was asked if he’s scared that people know where he lives.

“No, because my neighbors help me out a lot. Like sometimes I go to away games I need somebody to watch my dog. I feel comfortable, I can go to my neighbors,” said Hunter. “They watch out for my house. They watch out for everything that’s going around over here because they know how much I mean to the city and how much I mean to the state. So I mean I never feel uncomfortable or not safe.”
