The Colorado Rockies feared that the team would be without one of the team’s best players for the playoff stretch of the season. Early Tuesday afternoon, Ken Rosenthal reported that Trevor Story received an MRI and was awaiting the results, after leaving Monday’s game with elbow soreness.
The immediate fear was that Story had severe damage to his UCL, but according to Bud Black, Trevor Story has no major structural damage to his ligament or joint.
“We got pretty good [test] results this afternoon, just moments ago. There’s some inflammation and a little bit of soreness around the joint but the ligament seems to be fine.” -Bud Black with the latest on Trevor Story’s injury pic.twitter.com/krAzKguHxz

It is fortunate that the Rockies will not lose Story for the rest of the season, considering he has played like an MVP candidate. Story is hitting .288 and has drastically improved his on-base percentage (.343) by cutting down strikeouts. In 149 games, Story has a career-best 164 hits, 33 home runs and 102 RBI.
The Rockies currently trail the Dodgers by a half-game in the NL West. After losing 8-2 on Monday, Colorado will have the difficult task of trying to defeat Clayton Kershaw at home. The Rockies will have the team’s ace, Kyle Freeland on the mound.
